Where to Watch the Game in the Financial District

Quick answer

The three sports bars in the Financial District we send guests to are Stout at 90 John Street (the closest to us, a few blocks east on our own street, with a Monday to Friday 4pm to 8pm happy hour), Beckett's at 81 Pearl Street on the Stone Street block, and Killarney Rose at 127 Pearl Street when the first two fill up at kickoff. All three are a walk, not a subway ride, and downtown empties out on weekends so you'll usually get a seat if you show up before the first pitch or first whistle.

The Financial District isn't a stadium neighborhood, and it doesn't pretend to be. What it has is a handful of pubs that have been feeding traders lunch for decades and know exactly what to do when a game is on: turn the sound up on one screen, keep the rest muted, and pour.

We get asked this most on Sunday mornings, usually by someone who wants a European kickoff and a plate of eggs at the same hour. Here's the short version. Stout at 90 John Street is the closest, on our own street. Beckett's, on the Stone Street block, is the one with the outdoor tables. Killarney Rose on Pearl Street is the backup that's never as crowded. All three are a walk from our front door, and none of them need a reservation.

One thing worth knowing before you plan around it: downtown clears out on weekends. The office crowd that packs these rooms at 6pm on a Thursday is gone by Saturday morning, which is why a Sunday game here is a very different experience from a Sunday game in Midtown. That's a feature if you want a seat.
