Guests ask us about the Christmas markets every year from about the second week of November, usually in the same breath as "how far is that from you?" So here's the honest version.
Four markets carry the name in New York: Bryant Park, Union Square, Grand Central, and Columbus Circle. None of them are downtown. That sounds like bad news from John Street and it isn't, because we're two or three minutes' walk from Fulton Street, where five lines stop, and each market sits on top of one of them. You get on a train downtown and you get off at the market. No transfers, no cab.
A word on dates before you plan anything. The markets publish their season in the fall, and as we write this the 2026-27 dates aren't posted yet. Bryant Park has already opened its vendor applications for the 2026-27 season, so the shops are coming back; the window just isn't confirmed. Below we've given you the dates each market ran last season so you can plan roughly, and you should check the market's own site before you make the trip.
One more thing worth knowing: three of the four shut on Christmas Eve. If you're here for the week between Christmas and New Year's, Bryant Park is the market that will still be standing.
