How to Get to Yankee Stadium From Lower Manhattan

The 4 runs up the east side of Manhattan and stops at 161st Street and River Avenue, right at the ballpark. No transfer, no bus, no car. Fulton Street is the subway hub next to us on John Street, so from our door you're on the platform in a couple of minutes and at the stadium about half an hour later.

The B and D trains also serve 161 St-Yankee Stadium, but they come down Sixth Avenue and miss Lower Manhattan entirely, so they're only useful to you on the way back if you're meeting someone in Midtown afterwards.

A few things we tell guests. Leave about an hour before first pitch on a weeknight, because the 4 fills up with commuters and fans at the same time and you may let a train go by. Coming home after the last out is the slower half of the trip: the platform at 161st backs up, and waiting ten minutes at a bar near the stadium is faster than standing in that crush. Buy your MetroCard or tap a card before you go up, and remember the 4 is the same train that gets you back to Fulton Street, so the return is as simple as the way out.
