Where to Park in the Financial District (And Whether You Need To)
The short version
There's no valet with us and no garage of our own. What we tell guests who are driving in is to book a nearby garage ahead of time. Open SpotHero, put in our address at 17 John Street and your dates, and you'll see the garages around us with their rates, and you can reserve directly in the app. Doing it in advance beats circling the block looking for a sign, and it means you know the number before you commit to driving in.
Park once, then leave it
The thing worth saying plainly: you probably won't want the car after the first day. Almost everything people come downtown for is walkable from here, and Fulton Street station is about a three-minute walk from our door with several lines running through it. Guests who drive in from out of state usually put the car in a garage for the whole stay and don't touch it again until checkout. That's cheaper than in-and-out fees and much less annoying than moving a car around Lower Manhattan on a weekday morning.
If you're renting a car for a day trip
Same approach in reverse. Pick it up the morning you need it and return it that evening rather than keeping it parked at a downtown rate for four nights. Weekends down here are quiet compared to the weekday crush, so a Saturday morning departure out of the neighborhood is an easier drive than a Tuesday one.
If you want us to look at anything specific before you arrive, let us know and we'll help you sort it out.
