New York Comic Con 2026: Doing Javits From Lower Manhattan

Quick answer

New York Comic Con 2026 runs Thursday October 8 through Sunday October 11 at the Javits Center, 429 11th Avenue. If you're deciding where to stay, a Lower Manhattan base is about 35 minutes door to door: the 2 or 3 from Fulton St to Times Sq-42 St, then the 7 one stop to 34 St-Hudson Yards, which comes out beside the building. You trade a few subway minutes each way for a neighborhood that's quiet at night, cheaper to eat in, and has space to dump four days of hauls on the floor without stepping over them.

New York Comic Con is back at the Javits Center from Thursday October 8 through Sunday October 11, 2026, its twentieth year. Javits sits way out on 11th Avenue at 34th Street, which is the thing most first-timers get wrong when they book: the convention center is on the far west edge of Midtown, so "staying near Javits" usually means paying Midtown rates for a block with nothing on it once the show closes.

We're at 17 John Street in the Financial District, which is not near Javits, and we'll say so plainly. It's about 35 minutes each way. What you get for those minutes is worth laying out, because a lot of our October guests are here for exactly this.

Getting to Javits from downtown

The fast way: uptown 2 or 3 from Fulton St to Times Sq-42 St, then walk across the platform level to the 7 and ride one stop to 34 St-Hudson Yards. That station exits at 34th and 11th, right beside the Javits entrance. Call it 35 minutes door to door, less if the timing lands.

The other way: the E from World Trade Center straight to 34 St-Penn Station, then a 12 to 15 minute walk west along 34th. Fewer trains, more sidewalk. Good if you're carrying a lot and don't want to change platforms.

Both run constantly during convention hours. Tap a contactless card or your phone at the turnstile, no MetroCard needed. Coming back at 10 p.m. on Saturday, the 7 and the 2/3 are still frequent, and the ride downtown gets quieter with every stop.

Why people base downtown for this

Four days at a convention is a job. You're on your feet from 10 to 7, you're carrying things, and by Saturday night you want somewhere that isn't loud. The Financial District at night is close to empty, which sounds like a criticism and isn't. It's the quietest sleep you'll get in Manhattan.

The practical stuff stacks up too. Our suites have kitchens, so breakfast happens before you leave instead of costing twenty dollars near the Javits. There's a laundry room, which matters by day three. There's a gym and a guest lounge on the lower level, and coffee in the lounge in the morning. The rooftop terrace has lounge chairs and is the correct place to sit on Sunday evening when it's over.

If you're coming as a group, we don't have connecting rooms, but we do have two and three bedroom suites, which works better anyway: one kitchen, one living room, everyone's costumes spread across separate bedrooms.

A note on cosplay logistics

Javits has no storage worth relying on, and the subway in full armor is a genuine problem. Most people we host change at the venue and travel in normal clothes with a garment bag. If your build is large enough that the 7 train is out of the question, budget for a car on the days you're in it and take the subway the rest. From downtown, a car to Javits is 25 to 40 minutes depending on how the West Side Highway is behaving.

What to do with the downtime

The show doesn't fill four full days for most people. October is the best month down here: the harbor air is cool, the light is good, and the crowds at the big sights thin out after Labor Day. The Brooklyn Bridge walk starts a few blocks from our door, the Staten Island Ferry is free and gives you the Statue of Liberty from the water, and Stone Street's cobblestone block is where we send people for dinner that isn't a convention-center pretzel.
