The short version
17 John is a good fit for families because you're not squeezing everyone into one hotel room. Our suites are apartment-style, so you get a full kitchen and room to actually spread out. We keep pack n plays on hand, free of charge, and we'll set one up before you arrive. That combination, space plus a kitchen plus a crib, is what usually makes a trip with kids easier.
Room to spread out
The suites give a family somewhere to be together and somewhere to step away. Kids can have their own bedroom while the adults use the living room after bedtime. It's the difference between a stay where everyone's on top of each other and one where you can actually relax once the little ones are down. Space to live in the city, basically.
A kitchen means you're not eating out every meal
Every suite has a full kitchen, and that changes how a family trip goes. You can do breakfast in your pajamas, heat up a bottle at 2 a.m., or cook a simple dinner instead of wrangling a toddler through a restaurant. The suites come stocked with kitchenware, a coffee maker, and the basics, so you can cook from the first morning. There's a Whole Foods and other groceries within a short walk in Lower Manhattan for stocking up.
Cribs, sorted before you arrive
We have pack n plays available free of charge. Just let us know when you book or before you get here, and we'll have it set up in your suite before you walk in. One less thing to carry through the airport, one less thing to figure out at 11 p.m. after a travel day.
Laundry and the day-to-day stuff
Traveling with kids means laundry, and there's a laundry room on-site so you don't have to pack for every single day. Free high-speed Wi-Fi runs throughout the property, which helps if you're keeping a tablet going on a rainy afternoon or getting a little work done during nap time. Check-in is self-service through a smart lock, so you're not standing at a front desk with a stroller and a meltdown in progress. We'll email the instructions the day before you arrive.
The Financial District with kids
The neighborhood is calmer than Midtown, especially in the evenings and on weekends, which suits families with early bedtimes. You're a short walk from Battery Park and the waterfront, and the South Street Seaport is nearby for a change of scenery. The ferries leave from the tip of Lower Manhattan, so a boat ride is easy to work into a day. It's a walkable pocket of the city, which matters a lot when you're moving at a kid's pace.
One thing to know
We don't allow pets, so this isn't the spot if you're traveling with the family dog. Everything else, the crib, the kitchen, the space, the laundry, is set up to make a stay with kids feel less like camping in a hotel room and more like having your own place in Manhattan. Let us know what you need and we'll get it ready.
