The short answer
Yes, there's a conference room at 17 John Street, and for most small teams that plus a two or three bedroom suite is the whole setup. You're two blocks from Wall Street, so if your meetings are downtown you're walking to them.
We get a steady stream of teams of three to eight: an audit week, a product offsite, a founder doing investor meetings with two colleagues, a family business in town for a closing. What they all want turns out to be the same short list, so here's how it works.
Book the conference room by asking, not by guessing
The conference room is on site and it's for guests. It also gets spoken for, so if your week hinges on having it on a Tuesday morning, message us before you book the stay rather than after. We'd rather tell you straight away whether your day works than have you turn up assuming.
For the smaller stuff, plenty of teams don't need it at all. A two or three bedroom suite has a living room and a dining table, and four people around a table with a laptop each is a functional working day. It's also free, which the conference room booking process is not something we'll pretend to price for you here. Ask us.
Book one suite, not five rooms
This is the part that changes a team trip. We don't have connecting rooms. What we have instead are two and three bedroom apartments, and the three bedrooms come with either two kings and a queen or two queens and a king. A room with one bed sleeps two, and a room with a bed and a sofa bed sleeps four. Cots are available for $75 a day and take one more.
So a team of five or six fits in one apartment with a shared living room, a kitchen and more than one bathroom, instead of scattering across a corridor and meeting in a lobby. The shared space is where the actual work happens at 7pm when you're all still going.
Ship your materials ahead
We accept packages and you pick them up at the front desk. If you're bringing printed decks, samples, booth materials or a spare monitor, send it ahead instead of dragging it through an airport. The front desk is staffed 24/7, so it doesn't matter whether your flight lands at 10am or 1am.
Bring a picture ID for check-in, a driver's licence or a passport. Check-in itself is self-service through a smart lock and we send instructions the day before, so nobody's waiting in line while the rest of the team goes to dinner.
The kitchen is the sleeper feature for work weeks
Every apartment has a full kitchen and we stock the basics: kitchenware, a coffee maker, towels, linens. Four days into a work trip, the ability to make coffee at 6am and eat something that isn't a room service club sandwich is worth more than most hotel amenities. If you're staying longer, some layouts have a washer and dryer in the apartment and there's a laundry room in the building, which means you can pack for four days and stay for ten.
Housekeeping isn't daily by default. If you want it during your stay, tell us in advance and we'll arrange it for a fee.
What's around you when the working day ends
Wall Street is two blocks away. Stone Street, the cobbled restaurant block, is a short walk south and it's the default place teams end up for a group dinner, especially after work when it fills up. The ferry terminal at the bottom of the island is about five minutes on foot if someone wants to get out on the water before a morning flight.
There's a gym and a guest lounge in the building, and a rooftop terrace with lounge chairs, which is a better place to take a call in September than any conference room. Weekends down here go quiet once the offices empty, so if your team is staying through a Saturday, expect a calm neighbourhood and an easy walk to the harbor, the Brooklyn Bridge and One World Trade Center.
Practical odds and ends
Wi-Fi is included throughout the property and you'll get the login at check-in. There's no dedicated parking; the nearest garage is iPark at 29 Platt Street, about a three-minute walk, and most teams skip the car entirely. Smoking isn't permitted anywhere in the building. Check-in is after 4pm, check-out is by 11am, and late check-out to 1pm is $100 when it's available, which is worth knowing if your last meeting runs to noon.
If you're weighing us against a standard hotel block for a longer stint, the maths usually comes down to whether your team benefits from a kitchen, laundry and a shared living room. For three nights, probably not. For a week or a month, it's not close.
Message us with your dates and how many people, and we'll tell you which layout fits.
