The short version
An extended stay at 17 John is built around one idea: you should be able to live here, not just crash here. The suites are apartment-style, so you get a full kitchen, room to spread out, and the practical stuff that makes a two-week stay feel normal instead of like a long hotel booking. We're at 17 John Street in the Financial District, a couple of blocks from Wall Street.
You can cook, which changes everything
Every suite has a full kitchen. That's the single biggest difference between a longer stay here and a regular hotel room. You can make your own coffee in the morning, keep real food in the fridge, and cook dinner instead of ordering out for the tenth night in a row. Over a week or two that adds up, both for your wallet and for feeling like a person instead of a tourist. The kitchen comes stocked with the essentials: kitchenware, a coffee maker, and the basics you need to actually use it.
Laundry without leaving the building
There's a laundry room in the building, so you're not hauling a bag to a laundromat halfway through a long trip. This is one of those things nobody thinks about when they book and everybody's grateful for by day five. Pack lighter, wash as you go.
Room to work, and a change of scenery when you need one
The suites give you space to set up and work, not just a desk crammed in a corner. If you want a change of scenery, the guest lounge is on the lower level, and it's a decent spot to take a call or get out of the room for a bit. The fitness center is down there too, so you can keep a routine without buying a day pass somewhere. The Financial District is quieter than most of Manhattan once the workday ends, especially on weekends. For a longer stay, that's a feature.
The neighborhood grows on you
Staying a while means you start living the neighborhood instead of just visiting it. Wall Street is two blocks away. Stone Street, the old cobblestone strip lined with restaurants, is a short walk and a good default when you don't feel like cooking. Battery Park and the waterfront are close for a morning walk, and the ferry terminal is about a five-minute walk if you want to get out on the water. By the end of a longer stay most guests have their spots: the coffee place they like, the walk they do, the bench by the water.
Is it right for you?
A suite here makes the most sense if you're in town for work for a stretch, relocating and need a landing pad, or bringing family and want everyone to have room. If you just need a bed for one night, a standard room might be simpler. If you want to settle in, cook, do laundry, and have space to work, this is the setup for it. Space to live in the city, basically. Reach out and we'll help you sort out dates or which suite fits your stay.
